Wombat Forestcare Inc
Wombat Forestcare is a community group dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural ecosystems of the Wombat Forest and surrounding areas. We make submissions to the Department of Environment regarding management activities such as planned burns and are lobbying the Victorian government for park status for the central west forests. Wombat Forestcare engages in a range of activities. These have a strong focus on community involvement and education, and we undertake flora and fauna surveys. We also enjoy the social aspect of a forest group, with picnics and bushwalks for people who love being in the bush. Contact: info@wombatforestcare.org.au

The Glenlyon New Year’s Sports Day
The Glenlyon New Year’s Sports Day has been taking place since the mid 1850’s with over 1200 attendees enjoying the beautiful Glenlyon reserve. Attendees can participate in novelty events and there are activities for children. This is a calendar Axeman event and equestrian events, along with other olde world novelty events such as Bull boar eating and mineral water sculling, gumboot throwing and nail drive competitions. Kids activities run throughout the day. Bar, BBQ & canteen on site. This is a fantastic community event with social cohesion set under the shade of the huge old oak and elm trees. Monies raised are donated back into the local hospitals and sporting groups. For more information please email: glenlyonsportsclub@gmail.com
