Glenlyon Ukuleles – strum, sing and smile
Back in 2019, a few spirited members of the Glenlyon Progress Association had a bright idea: hand out ukuleles to unsuspecting locals and start a music group.
And guess what? It worked!
With the early guidance and inspiration of local legends Wendy Phypers and Dave Patterson from The Cartwheels, Glenlyon Ukuleles quickly found its rhythm. Since then, we’ve performed at community events – including opening for the Festival of Small Halls (FOSH) – and had an absolute blast doing it.
We meet every Wednesday at 5.30 pm at the Glenlyon Community Hall, and
our focus for the next hour is simple: fun, friendship and music. Whether you’re a seasoned strummer or just curious, you’re welcome to join us. Bring your uke (we can loan you one), your voice or just your ears – drop in for a listen and see what we’re all about.
New members are always welcome!
Some musical experience is preferred, but the more important thing is a willingness to join in, have fun and be part of a supportive group.
